The COVID-19 pandemic has changed a great deal in daily life, but what remains constant is the way people treat and support one another during difficult times. Everyday fear, uncertainty, anxiety, and stress have become a new reality for everyone, including healthcare professionals.
Every gesture of appreciation, or simply a kind word of thanks, is meaningful to any physician, especially now. A very pleasant surprise was experienced recently when a patient visited the office and expressed gratitude for the work being done. She brought a box of surgical masks and hand sanitisers, recognising the circumstances in which physicians are currently working. It was a deeply appreciated moment.
