Proper post-surgical skin and wound care is essential during recovery. Stratamed, a semi-occlusive film-forming wound dressing, is recommended by CMSD to minimise scarring and support healing.

Proper post-surgical procedure skin and wound care is essential during the recovery period, as it helps to minimise scarring and improve the cosmetic outcome.
Stratamed is a highly effective and safe advanced semi-occlusive film-forming wound dressing. It is used after surgery, on deeper wounds, and after full-field medical procedures such as ablative laser treatments. Its formula ensures strong contact with the damaged surface or wound bed, helping to prevent the formation of abnormal scarring that can result from various injuries and skin damage, including cuts and burns.
Stratamed is flexible and allows full contact with the affected area. It dries on the skin and forms a thin layer that functions as a flexible protective covering.
Stratamed is recommended for immediate application following the appearance of new open wounds or on compromised skin resulting from surgical or cosmetic procedures, or after injury such as cuts and burns.
Once applied, Stratamed dries and forms a thin, protective, and flexible layer that creates waterproof and gas-permeable conditions. Compromised skin areas and open wounds remain hydrated and protected from microbial and chemical invasion.
After application of Stratamed, epidermal cells are stimulated to migrate toward the surface of the dermis via wound exudate collected at the interface of the wound dressing. This environment prevents secondary tissue damage from dehydration and promotes enzymatic autolytic debridement. The wound dressing interface supports the activity of growth factors that contribute to wound healing. Stratamed emulates the epidermal barrier, enhances the healing process, prevents water loss, and helps to maintain an appropriate rate of oxygen transfer.
Stratamed is recommended to be applied once or twice per day on the affected area. Continuous application on the affected area is advised to achieve the best results.
Step 1: The affected skin and wound must be clean. The area should be dried as much as possible by gently patting to remove excess exudate and wound fluid.
Step 2: A very thin layer of Stratamed is to be applied directly to the affected area.
Step 3: The gel is allowed to dry, which typically takes approximately 5 to 6 minutes. Once dried, Stratamed may be covered with cosmetic products, clothing, or sunscreen.
Any excess Stratamed on the hands can be removed by washing with warm water and liquid soap. On the affected area, excess product can be removed with a paper towel or tissue so that drying may occur within the recommended 5 to 6 minutes.
