Rumex extract

Rumex extract is derived from plants of the Rumex genuswhich is found in Canadian Prairies. It is known as a very effective inhibitor of tyrosinase, which is found in both human skin and plant tissue. The inhibition of tyrosinase helps to reduce the formation of unwanted pigmentation and age spots. The skin tone also gets improved.

In Dermatology, the rumex extract is widely used to treat melasma. Melasma is a hyperpigmented condition which is symmetrically distributed on face, neck, and arms. One of the studies was conducted on comparing the safety and efficacy of 3% Rumex occidentalis cream and 4% HQ cream (standard treatment method) in managing melasma condition. In conclusion, 3% Rumex occidentalis was determined to be safe and effective method of skin-lightning agent for melasma condition as well as being comparable with 4% HQ cream.
